A wonderfully weird reboot.

the mittentog reboot

Welcome to my colorful corner of the world, where creativity and resilience come together in front of my camera. My journey into photography hasn’t been a straight path—it’s been a blend of challenges, personal growth, and an unrelenting passion for capturing life’s most genuine moments.

This year has been a turning point in my healing journey. I’ve spent it reflecting deeply, facing old wounds, and learning that heartbreak and happiness often walk hand in hand. I’ve come to realize that sometimes, life’s silver linings are all we have, and they’re what make the journey worthwhile. Photography became my lifeline long before I found peace—those silver linings, the vibrant colors, learning to read light, and embodying “happy” in my work kept me going when I needed it most.

Years of therapy have brought me peace and stability, allowing me to transform my experiences into something beautiful. I’ve learned that life isn’t about perfection - notion that was often expected; it’s about connection—those real, raw moments that tell a story and are often messy! It was a hard lesson to learn from an upbringing that made space for a mentally unstable parent, toxic and at times abusive behavior. Now, as a photographer, I bring all of that to the table. My studio is a reflection of my journey—a space where industrial history meets modern creativity, filled with light, color, and life. The same things I was driven by in the darkest of places - even those need their time to be honored because without, it wouldn't be the same.

Now, Every session is a new opportunity to celebrate the quirks and vibrance that make each person and each moment unique.

I’ve come to realize that sometimes, life’s silver linings are all we have, and they’re what make the journey worthwhile.

Later in life, my journey became a single parent. Raising a young family and building a business all at once is not for the faint of heart! It’s a wild, beautiful juggle of love, patience, and countless late nights (or all-nighters). My kids became my greatest inspiration, as I photographed their every move and observed how the light danced around them. They’re the reason I push forward, finding joy in every little moment. I found myself in the place, and then the universe gave me Nick. A covid-era online dating happenstance that I wouldn’t change for any moment in life! And like any unwatered flower, fainting flamingo - or whatever dumb analogy you’d like to reference - I got my color back and blossomed. I poured everything into growing my business, so I could provide for them, all while dreaming of the day I could finally give myself the space I had always imagined The MittenTog would be. And now, I’m finally taking it!

Photography has been my way of turning the page, of finding joy in the everyday, and of helping others do the same. It’s not just about taking pictures; it’s about creating memories that are as real, as weird, and as wonderful as life itself. This year has shown me that even in the hardest times, there’s beauty to be found, and that’s exactly what I’m here to capture!

Thanks for stopping by, and being a part of the rest of this adventure. I’m not sure EXACTLY where it’s headed, but that’s my favorite part. So, feel free to follow along!
