Tips for Preparing for Corporate Headshots

Getting ready for corporate headshots can seem daunting, but with a little preparation, you'll look your best and make a great impression. Here are some tips to help you prepare! I have also put together a sample color pallet to give some ideas on outfit selections starting with colors that always photograph beautifully keeping the guides below in mind.

For Hair and Makeup:

1. Keep It Natural: Aim for a natural and everyday you!

2. Haircare: Ensure your haircut and color are fresh and neat. There is a space on-site to freshen up before your headshot as needed.

3. Skin Care: Keep your face and lips moisturized for the day of our session, or a little lip color on hand or chap-stick can come in-handy during these colder and dryer months. And as silly as it sounds, lots of water.

For Clothing:

1. Choose clothing that aligns with your company's dress code and culture. Headshots typically capture from the waist up, so something well-fitted gives more definition.

2. Solid Colors: Solid colors are often the best choice. Patterns are great! Just avoid pinstriped clothing or anything too busy. It may distract or be hard to read through the camera.

3. Colors Matter: Select colors that complement your skin tone. Try not to pick anything too close to your complexion. Instead go for a deeper jewel tones, or something that may allow for some contrast. Feel free to have fun with color! (I do suggest avoiding any neon colors such as bright pink, highlighter orange or a vibrant red - these tend to reflect up onto the face and neck)

4. Wrinkle-Free: Make sure your clothes are clean and wrinkle-free. Bring them on hangers to avoid wrinkles during transport. There will also be a steamer on site if needed!

5. Accessories: Keep accessories simple and elegant.

6. Layer Smartly: Consider layering with a blazer or cardigan for a polished look. Ensure these items fit well.

General Tips:

1. Rest Well: Get a good night's sleep before your session to look refreshed and alert.

2. Communication: Feel free to Communicate your preferences and expectations. For example if you are a semi-regular glasses wearer, I suggest some with and without. If you have a preference, or a favorite side to face the camera don’t hesitate to let me know! I will otherwise put your best foot forward in every shot giving full guidance on posing.

3. Enjoy the Process: Remember that corporate headshots are an opportunity to show your professionalism and approachability. We will have time for a few poses to give variety. Ensuring a headshot you feel represents you!

When you arrive, the best place to park is on the west side of the building — look for the car chargers and the loading dock area. The entrance is through the silver double doors located right next to that loading dock.

Once inside, head down the long hallway to your left. Pass the mailboxes, and you’ll find Suite 185C on your right. That’s us!
